The GGC is kicking off spring with lots of great events.
We’re back in the plant selling business, which will look different to those of you who remember the huge sale we ran every year before COVID took that option away. Our response has been to offer three plant-buying opportunities to club members:
- Jolly Farmer wholesaler—annuals ordered last autumn will be delivered in mid-May.
- Van Berkum wholesaler—perennials ordered this April will be delivered in late May.
- Fall bulb sale—bulbs ordered this August will be delivered in October.
We also have several community activities coming up:
- The scholarship team has been busy accepting applicants for this year’s $4,000 that the club will award this spring. Applications are being accepted through April 15th.
- Saturday, May 6th will be the club’s third year running the “Grantham Town Wide Cleanup Day”. Between the flowers planted and the cleanup, Grantham is going to look even more beautiful than ever. We love our town!
- Saturday, May 27th and Sunday, May 28th is the weekend when several of our club members volunteer to plant flowers around Grantham to kickoff our Civic Gardens activity. All through the spring, summer, and autumn, our club members will water and care for these plants daily.
- On Saturday, June 10th, we’ll participate in the “Grantham Townwide Yard Sale” at Town Hall. We’ll have vegetable seedlings, succulents, and any annuals and perennials remaining from the prior two sales.
Our Friday morning programs continue with three exciting activities:
- April 14th: Emily Cleaveland, “The Dahlia Lady”, will share her expertise for growing dahlias. The meeting will be held as a hybrid to enable our members and the public to attend in person or remotely.
- May 12th: A members-only tour of Jennifer Cooke’s garden in Lyme, NH.
- June 9th A second members-only field trip to Jim Daigle’s hosta garden in Plainfield, NH.
None of these events could happen without the remarkable volunteers and members who make up our club.
Hope to see you all this spring.
Terri
