Meetings and Hospitality
Steering committee meetings take place monthly, on the Tuesday prior to a general membership meeting.
They are currently conducted by internet using a Zoom call and last for 90-120 minutes.
Elected club officers and team leaders (Chairs) are asked to attend these meetings to ensure their participation in voting.
All club members are welcome to attend, though they may only vote during general membership meetings.
General membership meetingsand monthly programs take place on the Friday after a steering committee meeting.
When meeting in person, we gather in the lower level of the Grantham Town Hall, located at …… We offer light refreshments for 30 minutes prior to starting our business meetings, which start at 10 am and generally last for 20-30 minutes. The programs immediately follow the meetings and generally last 50-60 minutes.
When meeting via Zoom, members are sent a link for 10 am. We generally hold our business meetings prior to the program, just as when we meet in person. Occasionally we reverse the order to accommodate our speaker.
Programs and Activities that Support our 3-Fold Mission
Sponsor environmental education programs that are open to the public
Through the cooler months, we organize educational programs with many of them open to the public as a community service.
Through the warmer months we organize educational field trips to local farms and businesses and often invite the public to join us.
Provide scholarships and grants to community members
We are very proud of our efforts to promote the future generations’ interest in environmental stewardship by providing annual educational scholarships each spring and community grants that are available year-round.
Invest in our community by maintaining local civic gardens
We have a well-established civic gardens program that brings splashes of color to our lovely town during the warmer months.
(Add a map to identify where the civic gardens are located)
(Add pictures of civic gardens)
NOTES: Elise and Terri, How should we present our leadership to the public? Should we add names and positions, plus club email addresses when one is associated with a position? Any thoughts for how best to explain Organization and Operation? Are there any other sections we should consider adding?
Should we add member quotes about why GGC members enjoy living in Grantham and being members of this club? EXAMPLE—In what other town can reading an email from the police chief bring a smile to your face and make you laugh?
