(DRAFT) MEMBERSHIP

Welcome, we’re happy you’re interested in becoming a GGC member! Whether you are a hands-in-the-dirt gardener or simply an admirer of gardens large and small, we're looking forward to having you join us.

Please download our 2023 MEMBERSHIP FORM and follow the instructions provided at the top of the form. We encourage you to become active and make a difference by joining one of our club's volunteer teams!

CLUB HISTORY
  • Started in 1999, our current membership is just over 100 members. The strength and versatility of this club has continued to grow thanks to so many members who have shared their personal expertise and enthusiasm through the various volunteer positions they have taken on.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS
  • Individual membership: $30
  • Household membership: $45 (2 members in the same household)
  • Our annual memberships run January 1st through December 31st with dues owed on January 1st and payable no later than March 1st.
  • New members joining in the last quarter of the calendar year (October 1st through December 31st) are considered paid through the upcoming calendar year.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
  • We provide opportunities for our members to purchase high quality annuals, perennials, and bulbs at discounted pricing.
  • Several of our programs and activities are only offered to members.
  • In addition to the individual friendships that are made, we have an annual member appreciation party at the end of each gardening season.

ORGANIZATION
  • We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with executive officers elected each autumn for the following calendar year.
  • We maintain a minimum cash flow to support a one-year operating budget with member dues covering operating expenses so fundraising revenue can be applied to program speaker fees and civic garden expenses, with a minimum of one-third of all fundraising revenue directed towards scholarships and grants.

MEETINGS
  • Club Member Meetings are held at 10:00 a.m. on the second Friday as scheduled each year. Starting in 2023, the format for most meetings this year will be hybrid so members can attend in person or online.
    • Hybrid In Person Option:  We meet in the lower level of the Grantham Town Hall. Light refreshments are offered from 9:30-10:00 a.m. At 10:00 a.m., a 20–30 minute membership meeting is conducted, immediately followed by a 60–90 minute program.
    • Hybrid Remote Option:  Members will receive an email with a 10:00 a.m. Zoom link the day prior to the meeting.
  • Board & Steering Committee Meetings are held at 1:00 p.m. on the 1st or 2nd Tuesday of any given month, taking place in person or via Zoom, as called by the president. All club officers and team leaders are encouraged to attend. Club members are also always welcome to attend.

MISSION STATEMENT
  • The goals of the Grantham Garden Club are to promote the love of gardening among amateurs through education; promote the study of horticulture; protect our native trees, wildflowers, and birds; encourage civic beautification; and engage in charitable and educational activities including awarding grants or educational scholarships, in furtherance of this mission.
  • We support our mission by providing a wide variety of educational programs, many of which are open for the public to attend, and by investing in our community through the educational scholarships and project grants we award, as well as the civic garden projects we participate in each year.
